Data Acquisition

PRISM SCADA accumulates data from the chain of field devices (IEDS, substation data, protective devices, via RTUs or substation controllers) through the PRISM Communications Interface (PCI). The PCI accomodates communication to and from virtually any RTU or substation controller on the market; the list of usable protocols grows almost daily. Data is stored in the PRISM real-time database after scaling, smoothing, limit checking, or change of state detection. If a change is noted, updates are sent to the SCADA/DMS/EMS system for dissemination to all nodes, so that all nodes receive the change in the same sequence.

Operators can arrange the data in scan groups, so that polling and updating (including report-by-exception) can be cotrolled for maximum efficiency. The PCI is easily configured for redundant operation with automatic failover.
