Advanced Control Systems excels in fifth consecutive Newton-Evans survey

A recent study of electric utility SCADA and SCADA/EMS/DMS vendor preferences shows Advanced Control Systems ranks highest in five of the nine categories analyzed. This marks the fifth consecutive time that Advanced Control Systems (ACS) has dominated these categories in the survey, which is based on responses from operations/engineering management of investor-owned electric utilities, rural electric co-ops, municipalities, and federal and state agencies.

The North American volume of the report, entitled “Worldwide Market Survey of SCADA, Energy Management Systems and Distribution Management Systems in Electrical Utilities: 2005-2007” was published by the Newton-Evans Research Company, Inc.

Advanced Control Systems ranks as the number one vendor in the following qualitative categories:

  • Best at meeting contractual obligations
  • Best technical approach
  • Most value for money
  • Best implementation schedule performance
  • Best maintenance environment

Public utilities and rural electric co-ops choose Advanced Control Systems by more than a 2-to-1 margin over all other competitors as the vendor they will most likely turn to for future SCADA and DMS needs.

This new study provides an in-depth appraisal of the central and remote site hardware, applications software, and communications services that electric utilities will request during their next round of procurements for SCADA, EMS and DMS systems. In addition to profiling utility requirements individually, the research program focuses on defining the broader product and market requirements which vendors must meet in order to successfully participate in the SCADA/EMS/DMS programs within the electric utility community worldwide.

The sample selected for this survey was developed using a database of U.S. and Canadian utilities compiled by Newton-Evans Research Company, supplemented with the Electrical World Directory of Electric Utilities.
