| Danville picks ACS for real-time outage management system May 17. 2006 -- Danville Utilities (Virginia), one of the nation's oldest electric companies, has awarded Advanced Control Systems (ACS) a contract to expand the utility's distribution automation capabilities to include the ACS PRISM Real-Time Outage Management System. In selecting ACS, Danville focused on the real-time capabilities of the ACS product, as well as the ACS interface to Danville's ESRI GIS, which will update the OMS/SCADA database in a single operation. Operators won't have to wait for one system to update the other. Since the outage and distribution systems will operate from the same data, work can proceed faster, and with a higher degree of personal safety. PRISM Real-Time OMS will interface with an existing Centurion IVR system, enabling direct logging of calls in the OMS call management subsystem, as well as manual call taking by customer service representatives. The project also includes a powerful business intelligence subsystem based on PRISM Portal and an Oracle-resident utility data model. Together, these will integrate access to SCADA and outage data, performance index calculation, and outage summaries-distributing them on demand through browser-based reports. Future plans include an interface to Danville's Citiworks work management system. |
