Connex 30 Substation ManagerIn 1997, Advanced Control Systems revolutionized substation automation. We combined traditional RTU functionality with superior processing power, then exploited computer network theory to design a powerful tool for data collection and control. The result was the OpEn Connect™ NTU-7500 series of network terminal units (NTUs). Now we've improved on the NTU series with additional networking concepts and an eye on the future of automation to create Connex Automation Logic. With innovative data management, a powerful, easy-to-use configuration program, and the ruggedness and durability that characterize Advanced Control Systems substation, feeder and remote terminal units, they are ideal for substation automation and distribution management systems; protocol conversion; preservation of legacy components and subsystems; and data concentration applications. Advanced communication is the hallmark of Connex Automation Logic. In addition to conventional direct I/O connections, dozens of IED profiles are supported. So are most major master station protocols, so you can enjoy the power and convenience of the Connex series without abandoning your legacy devices. You can grow from a basic site to one with many IEDs, because Connex can be easily reconfigured or expanded for changes and additions. Multiple ports, whether for additional IED or master station communications, are easily added. And if you have older Advanced Control Systems RTUs, they can be upgraded to Connex capabilities with minimal difficulty. Unique tools for Connex Connex simplifies automation and reduces the cost of substation management. The Connex/NTU Configure program employs the Windows interface and drag-and-drop database editing. Monitor, another useful tool, lets you observe the real-time transfer of raw data to and from your NTU. It's invaluable for diagnosing substation anomalies. Connex is also an application server. Using a modified version of the Basic language, a host of functions can be programmed for the RTU. Among these are a version of our FDIR--Fault Detection, Isolation and Restoration. Another is our Mailbox RTU, which automatically shares data among multiple systems using different communications protocols. There are two models in the Connex Automation Logic series: the rack-mounted Connex 30 for maximum flexibility and I/O potential; and the panel-mounted Connex 60 for an optimum combination of expansion opportunity and accessibility. |
