Data concentrator The Advanced Control Systems innovative Connex 30 and Connex 60 can operate in a number of different modes, including as a data concentrator. As a data concentrator, the master gateway/data concentrator node manages the substation data from all input and measurement devices and maintains a substation database. This single physical database may be mapped into as many logical or virtual databases as needed, permitting the master gateway/data concentrator nodes support capabilities such as Virtual RTU mapping and Virtual PLC. The master gateway/data concentrator cardfile contains a central single-board router, the master gateway communications to the SCADA computers and the data interface modems, and a logic power supply. The single-board router controls the data routing between all of the intelligent nodes of the substation RTU. Using multiple network-connected microprocessors to perform each of the various local I/O, IED, data concentrator, and networking functions, the system microprocessors are programmed in C++ and operate on a peer-to-peer basis. |
