System maintenance A neglected operating system will eventually stop running -- usually at the worst moment. This kind of crash is often preventable with regular maintenance. Unfortunately, you don't always have time to do it right. That's why a big part of TuneUp is a review of your log files, error logs and system messages to ensure that all is well. If maintenance is required, we'll handle it, including printer lists and unpurged spool files, disk allocation and usage, and kernel maintenance. We;ll give you a report of what we found and how we fixed it. Maintenance during a TuneUp takes a fraction of the time it would take to reboot and troubleshoot operating system problems. Security review These days, security is at the top of everyon's list. Security lapses often start with user accounts. We review all your users, checking password history as well as the accounts themselves. We'll help you customize user environments to ensure compliance with your policy and procedures. If your company doesn't have a policy, we will implement your wishes based upon best practice. (If you require a more rigorous program, ask about PRISM Shield.) System backup strategy The critical task least exercised is backing up. Without a comprehensive backup strategy, you may not be able to recover your valuable data. At a minimum, restoring your system from a disk failure could take days or weeks. When we're done tuning up your system, you'll have three levels of backup: a full image using HP Ignite-UX; a full cpio copy of the system; and a complete database backup. We will automate incremental backups to suit your system needs. The last details We will observe your system in action and recommend improvements based on how you use it. Some of the review topics:
Before we leave, we will go over the system evaluation that started the TuneUp process, item by item, to be sure that your needs have been addressed and your questions answered. Product overview in pdf format |
